Margaux Meganck has lived the world over, in places as far flung as Jamaica, Thailand, Japan, and The Netherlands. Her father was with the United Nations and instilled in Margaux and her two sisters a strong sense of environmentalism, cultural sensitivity, and a thirst for adventure.
Margaux earned her BA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Oregon and spent two subsequent summers attending The Illustration Academy. She’s been drawing since childhood (when her favorite subject was horses) and has worked in a variety of occupations including: indie bookstore clerk, nanny, and teacher at an after-school art program, all of which have magically included time well spent with picture books. She received portfolio awards from the SCBWI Oregon Regional Spring Conference (’15), and the Western Washington Regional Spring Conference (’17), and is currently illustrating her first trade picture book with Bloomsbury.
Like many LKLA clients, she now resides in the PNW, in Portland. Her family and partner Cody, are her mainstays. Hot tea, dark chocolate, and cats are the way to her heart. And she comes up with her best ideas in the shower.
